Heres the deal. I didn't really want to start this blog just for the fact that it would be a hassle. Plus I would always be looking at the downfall of the snowboard industry rather than the positives in snowboarding(which I would rather not do). This video though, convinced me otherwise that sometimes it's alright to hate on the industry you love, if it is for its own good.
It's simple, the wakeboard shit should be left for the water. I have a hard time watching a raley on the water ( it's the most awkward looking trick, there is no tech/skill to it, and it's only done by the wakeboard bro so he can get some later that night cause some chick is jazzed he has some balls) therefore, there is no way in hell I want to see it being attempted by 20 somethins behind a snowmobile. It's like trying to be super man for split second. Trying to bring back the glory days. ABD son.. spots blown. If you are going to be trying tricks like that on the snow you might as well take your shirt off in the winter, put your flip flops on, and then flex/fist pump super hard when some stacked babe walks by you. The trick is gayer than aids, face the fact. It is a wakeboard trick, not a snowboard maneuver. DON'T DO IT! And people wouldn't even be tempted by these wakeboard tricks if they weren't getting pulled behind a snowmobile with a wakeboard rope.
My second point... Economically, it doesn't make sense to be towing people into boxes and jumps when in the background of the video there is a huge ass mountain where you could generate your speed to these features. It doesn't make sense. I could understand this maybe if you were in a city with no hill, but in this video you are right below a mountain. Why waste gas and peoples energy running the snowmobile when you could ride the mountain.
The industry doesn't always need that newest coolest thing to make it seem cooler than it is.. especially if it has anything to do with wakeboarding. Snowboarding is cool in itself and I am pretty sure everyone agrees that powder is awesome and as long as we have that we don't have to "church it up" and try and pretend to be different industries that we aren't. This is simply my opinion and I am writing this for the hell of it. I hope no one takes this the wrong way and is offended. I am sure there will be another incident, in the near future, that will resemble (in someway) the wakboard industry.
Until next time... stay classy. Later
